Get Your Company Message Wrapped and Moving

By David A Robinson

Vehicle wrap advertising has changed the world of mobile ads. No longer does a car

or van need to be hand painted or sprayed by someone with a distinct artistic touch.

Now wraps, vinyl images that are generated by computer, can be wrapped onto the

vehicle body to produce quite stunning effects.

The first vehicle to be wrapped in this way was a bus back in 1993. It carried a

popular fizzy drinks ad and it made heads turn by the thousands - exactly what

advertisers want to see happening. Vehicle wrap advertising had gained a firm

foothold in the world of mobile advertising.

It is still a relatively young industry and those working in it are constantly coming up

with bright new innovative and highly creative ideas. While the flat sides of vans and

buses are still used as a canvas for the imagery, increasingly suitable vehicle parts

are being incorporated into the images and being made use of to add a distinct

creative touch.

For example, a manufacturer of a toothbrush with a flexible handle made use of a

double city bus which is hinged in the middle with an accordion type of join that can

flex as required. The image of the toothbrush straddles the middle part with the

flexible part of the toothbrush handle coinciding with the flexible part of the double

bus. As the bus flexes, so does the toothbrush image, thereby cleverly emphasizing

the main selling point of the product.

Another clever example of vehicle wrap advertising, again on a bus and this time for

a dating web site, has the images of a boy and girl facing each other on the two

individual sliding doors of the bus located in the middle of the vehicle. When the

doors are closed they appear to be kissing, and when the doors open they pull apart,

only to kiss once more as the doors close again.

The wheels of buses, vans and cars have been used extensively too. They can be

camera lenses or human eyes, depending on the message. Exhaust pipes have also

been used to great effect to get the "stop smoking" message across. In fact, if any of

the normal vehicle parts can be incorporated into the vehicle wrap advertising image,

they usually will be.

This form of advertising is becoming increasingly popular in most cities. People still

look at billboards and bus banners, but vehicle wraps are just so much more cool

and eye-catching. People like them as they view them more as an art form than a

blatant ad. The message still gets across, but in a more likable and acceptable way.

New ideas of how to use vehicle wrap advertising are being thought up all the time.

There are companies who will pay good money for car owners to drive their wrapped

car around to spread the word, whatever it might be. Now it's also possible to have

your company white van that doesn't already carry advertising or company logo

carry advertising for other companies or you can offer an incentive to employees that

would allow you to wrap their car and advertise your business.

The possibilities seem endless. Call us to today & let us help you develop a mobile
